Below is a list (with pictures!) of locations that we have used throughout the Denver area for our family, maternity, senior pictures, engagement photos, and elopements.
They are in no particular order and some of them will be just outside of Denver, but they're worth the drive! Feel free to check out the location before our photo session and let us know your thoughts.
Some locations require a permit and advance notice. Find out more about photography permits in the Denver metro area.
Inside Union Station is absolutely beautiful, but you also have areas around the station that makes this location a great spot. There is an alley between Wynkoop and Wazee with nice red brick and a beautiful butterfly mural. The architecture in the back of the station looks amazing and I love the fountain in front of the station during the spring and summer months!
I LOVE this spot because it’s so versatile! On one side you have a lot of green and two beautiful rows of carefully placed trees. It’s a great picture! But on the other side you have the beautiful Millennium Bridge which has so many spots for a great photo!
The RiNo neighborhood has quickly become the go-to location for something different. With so many incredible murals around this area, you are bound to capture great pictures all year!
Washington park is big! Really really big! But there are three spots in particular that I love using. One is on the northeast corner of the park, off Franklin and Virginia. Around sunset you have a beautiful view with the lake and boat house in the background. The other two spots are at the flower gardens. One is off Exposition and Downing and the other is at the Franklin and Mississippi entrance.
When people google Denver they usually see the mountains and the skyscrapers in front. The best spot for this shot and for your next family photos would be at City Park. You have to enter off Montview and Colorado in order to capture this view.
Although it’s a small park it has a ton of character! I enjoy coming here throughout the year because of all the different backdrops that it has to offer. It has evergreens, a cute little fence, a silo, cherry blossoms in the spring, and beautiful fall colors!
Two things make this location great; one is all the cool old cottages and the other is the creek! After a few pictures with the cottages walk down to the creek for a ton of beautiful spots. Beware of all the people!
Majestic View Park in Arvada is a small and beautiful park because it sits on a hill. The view is simply majestic ;) This park obviously looks amazing at sunset and during the fall, the colors here are beautiful!
This made our list because of the great views we are able to capture along the trails. Also, there are plenty of trees if you want more of a forest look. The photos here look great anytime but sunset is our favorite time!
Just south of Red Rocks is the little know South Valley Park. They are not as famous as Red Rocks but just as beautiful! I personally prefer this spot because there are less people and I feel like there are more options for pictures here. We absolutely LOVE THIS LOCATION BUT it only works well at sunset or if it's cloudy.
We love this new spot that we started to visit. It gives us a great option for a garden setting south of Denver. With our annual permit, we can visit anytime from sunrise to sunset, but we need a 5-day notice.
We love photo sessions at the Denver Botanic Gardens because it has so much to offer. We have to schedule a week before and we have to keep an eye out for early closures. We only schedule shoots here during the week because of the crowds that we have to work around during the weekends.
Red Rocks is absolutely beautiful and looks incredible around sunset. But we need a weeks notice for a permit to have our photo shoot there.
Once upon a time this was our go to spot for forest and mountains within the Denver metro area. But over the past year JeffCo has placed barricades all along the beautiful lookout points and we are no longer able to access them. It's still beautiful and we could still have some nice views, but it's no longer the same.
